This case study highlights a long-standing partnership between Big Thought Institute and SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts to introduce first-year arts majors to the field of teaching artistry. Through the First-Year Arts Community Experience (FACE), students gain real-world experience applying their creative skills in community-based settings while learning instructional techniques rooted in equity, social-emotional learning, and inclusive practice. The program equips young artists to see teaching artistry not only as a viable career path but as a powerful way to make a lasting impact.
